Oglala Cdp is a census designated place located in the Shannon County, South Dakota, United States. The population of the census designated place was 1229 as per the 2000 census data. making it the 62nd most populous in South Dakota. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the census designated place has a total area of 13.35 mi˛ (34.58 sq km), of which, 12.5 square miles (32.37 sq km) of it is land and 0.85 square miles (2.2 sq km) of it is water, it is the sixth largest by area in the U.S. state of South Dakota. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in South Dakota.
