Ogemaw County is a United States county located in the United States of Michigan. In 2000, the population was 21645. In July 2008, its estimated population was 21016, It is the 20th least populous county in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is spread over 574.63 square miles (1488.28 kmē), of which, 564.3 square miles (1461.53 kmē ) of it is land and 10.33 square miles (26.75 kmē) of it is water, it is the 20th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Michigan.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 21645 people, 8842 households, and 6189 families residing in the county. The population density was 38.4 people per square mile (14.83/kmē), it would be the 25th least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Michigan. There were 15404 housing units at an average density of 27.3 per square mile (10.54/kmē). The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 2.87. Age range in the county was well distributed with 23.5% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 27% from 45 to 64, and 18.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.5 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 21016, The racial makeup of the county was 20350 White, 103 Black or African American, 143 American Indian, 107 Asian, 7 Native Hawaiian, and 306 from two or more races.
