Oconto County is a one of the county from Wisconsin's 72 counties, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. The population of the county was 35634 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 37529, It is the 38th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It has total area of 1149.04 sq mi (2976 sq km), of which, 997.97 square miles (2584.73 sq km) of it is land and 151.07 square miles (391.27 sq km) of it is water, it is the 16th largest in terms of geographical size.

The population density was 35.7 people per square mile (13.78/kmē), making it the 42nd most densely populated county in Wisconsin. In the Oconto County, 25.7% of the population was under the age of 18, 6.4% were 18 to 24, 28.7% were 25 to 44, 24% were 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.7 males.
