Oceana County is a county located in Michigan, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Oceana County is home to 26873 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 27598, It is the 51st largest county by population in the U.S. state of Michigan. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1306.73 mi˛ (3384.42 sq km), of which, 540.46 square miles (1399.78 sq km) of it is land and 766.27 square miles (1984.63 sq km) of it is water, making it the 25th largest by size in Michigan.

As of the census of 2000, there were 26873 people, 9778 households, and 7265 families living in the county. The population density was 49.7 people per square mile (19.19/km˛), making its Michigan's 50th most densely populated county. There were 15009 housing units at an average density of 27.8 per square mile (10.73/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.67 persons, and the average family size was 3.09 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 28.2% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 14% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.7 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 27598, The racial makeup of the county was 26705 White, 167 Black or African American, 307 American Indian, 78 Asian, 14 Native Hawaiian, and 327 from two or more races.
