Ocean County, New Jersey

Ocean County is one of the 21 county of New Jersey, located towards the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 510916. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 569111, It is New Jersey's sixth most populous county. It covers total area of 915.88 mi˛ (2372.12 square kilometre), of which, 636.28 square miles (1647.96 square kilometre) of it is land and 279.6 square miles (724.16 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 510916 people in the county, organized into 200402 households, and 137803 families living in the county. The population density was 803 people per square mile (310.04/km˛), making it the 12th most densely populated county in New Jersey. There were 248711 housing units at an average density of 390.9 per square mile (150.93/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.51 persons, and the average family size was 3.06 persons. In the Ocean County, 23.3% of the population was under the age of 18, 6.6% were 18 to 24, 26% were 25 to 44, 21.9% were 45 to 64, and 22.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 90.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.4 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 569111, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 532210 White, 20086 Black or African American, 1096 American Indian, 10027 Asian, 173 Native Hawaiian, and 5519 from two or more races.
