Obion County is a one of the county from Tennessee's 95 counties, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 32450. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 31375, It is the 47th most populous county in the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is spread over 555.35 mi˛ (1438.35 sq km), of which, 544.91 square miles (1411.31 sq km ) of it is land and 10.43 square miles (27.01 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 28th largest by total area in Tennessee.

The population density was 59.6 people per square mile (23.01/km˛), making its Tennessee's 52nd most densely populated county. There were 14489 housing units at an average density of 26.6 per square mile (10.27/km˛). The average household size was 2.42 people, and the average family size was 2.89 people. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 23.4% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.9 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 31375, The racial makeup of the county was 88.72% White, 9.96% Black or African American, 0.15% American Indian, 0.27% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 0.86% from two or more races.
