Oak Grove City is one of the city of Jackson and Lafayette counties, Missouri, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. It is home to over 5535 people (2000 census). Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 6852, making it Missouri's 118th largest. Its area is just over 4.87 sq mi (12.61 square kilometre), of which, 4.85 square miles (12.56 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Missouri's 123rd largest by total area.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 5535 people, 1944 households, and 1479 families living in the city. The population density was 1140.3 people per square mile (440.27/kmē), it is Missouri's 315th most densely populated city. There were 2016 housing units at an average density of 415.7 per square mile (160.5/kmē). The average household size was 2.8 persons, and the average family size was 3.21 persons. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 31.8% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 32.3% from 25 to 44, 17.3% from 45 to 64, and 9.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.9 males. The median age was 30.8 years, the median age of male residents at 29.3 and the median age of female residents at 32.1. The racial makeup of the city was 5373 White, 14 Black or African American, 14 American Indian, 23 Asian, 11 Native Hawaiian, 58 from two or more races and 42 Ohter races.
