Norway City is a one of the Dickinson County, Michigan, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. The population of the city was 2959 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 2821, making it Michigan's 252nd largest. The city has a total area of 8.87 square miles (22.97 sq km), of which, 8.82 square miles (22.84 sq km) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 sq km) of it is water, making it the 72nd largest by size in Michigan.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2959 residents, 1288 households, and 813 families in the city. The population density was 335.6 people per square mile (129.58/kmē), it is 61st least densely populated city in Michigan. There were 1392 housing units at an average density of 157.8 per square mile (60.93/kmē). The average household size was 2.3 persons, and the average family size was 2.91 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 25.3% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 19.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 90.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.9 males. The median age is 38.6 years, the median age of male residents at 37.3 and the median age of female residents at 39.8. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 97.53% White, 0% Black or African American, 0.95% American Indian, 0.07% Asian, 0.14% Native Hawaiian, 1.08% from two or more races and 0.24% Other races.
