Northwest Arctic Borough, Alaska is a borough located in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. The borough has a population of 7208 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 7502, giving it the 13th largest population among Alaska's borough. The borough comprises an area of 40762 mi˛ (105573.1 square kilometre), of which, 35898.34 square miles (92976.27 square kilometre) of it is land and 4863.66 square miles (12596.82 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the fourth largest by size in Alaska.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7208 people, 1780 households, and 1405 families living in the borough. The population density was 0.2 people per square mile (0.08/km˛), giving it the seventh least densely populated borough among the Alaska. There were 2540 housing units at an average density of 0.1 per square mile (0.04/km˛). The average household size was 3.87 and the average family size was 4.36. In the borough the population was distributed as follows: 41.5% under the age of 18, 10% from 18 to 24, 28.1% from 25 to 44, 15.5% from 45 to 64, and 5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 114.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 120.7 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 7502, The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 13.74% White, 0.48% Black or African American, 80.93% American Indian, 0.96% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, and 3.83% from two or more races.
