Northport City is one of the city of Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. In 2000, city's population was 19435 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 23118, It is the 27th most populous in the U.S. state of Alabama. Its area is just over 14.85 mi˛ (38.46 square kilometre), of which, 14.63 square miles (37.89 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.22 square miles (0.57 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 82nd largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 19435 people, 7844 households, and 5255 families residing in the city. The population density was 1328.3 people per square mile (512.86/km˛), it is the 29th most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Alabama.
