Northampton County is a one of the county from Pennsylvania's 67 counties, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. Northampton County had an official population of 267066 in 2000. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 294787, It is the 13th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It covers total area of 377.36 sq mi (977.36 square kilometre), of which, 373.8 square miles (968.14 square kilometre) of it is land and 3.56 square miles (9.22 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the ninth smallest by size in Pennsylvania.

The population density was 714.5 people per square mile (275.87/kmē), it is the seventh most populated county in terms of population density. There were 106710 housing units at an average density of 285.5 per square mile (110.23/kmē). The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 3.02. The population's age distribution was 23.3% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 23.4% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.7 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 294787, The racial makeup of the county was 91.75% White, 4.59% Black or African American, 0.21% American Indian, 2.28% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, and 1.1% from two or more races.
