North East Borough, Erie County, Pennsylvania is a borough located in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 4601. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 4184, It is the 310th largest by population in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The borough spans an area of 1.31 square miles (3.39 square kilometre), making it Pennsylvania's 595th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4601 people in the borough, organized into 1730 households, and 1163 families living in the borough. The population density was 3515.4 people per square mile (1357.3/kmē), it is Pennsylvania's 304th most densely populated borough. There were 1795 housing units at an average density of 1370.2 per square mile (529.04/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.53 persons, and the average family size was 3.12 persons. In the borough the population was distributed as follows: 27.5% under the age of 18, 11.2% from 18 to 24, 27% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.9 males. The median age is 34.2 years, the median age of male residents at 30.9 and the median age of female residents at 37.1. The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 4493 White, 37 Black or African American, 4 American Indian, 4 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 36 from two or more races and 27 Ohter races.
