Norfolk County is a county located in Massachusetts, in the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. It is home to over 650308 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population was 659909, It is the fifth largest in terms of population. Its area is just over 443.94 square miles (1149.8 sq km), of which, 399.58 square miles (1034.91 sq km) of it is land and 44.35 square miles (114.87 sq km) of it is water, makes it the third smallest by total area in Massachusetts. It is ranks ninth in the size of its inland waterways in Massachusetts.

The population density was 1627.5 people per square mile (628.38/kmē), it would be the third most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Massachusetts. There were 255154 housing units at an average density of 638.6 per square mile (246.56/kmē). The average household size was 2.54 persons, and the average family size was 3.14 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 23.4% under the age of 18, 7% from 18 to 24, 31.6% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.6 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 659909, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 563796 White, 34497 Black or African American, 1125 American Indian, 52241 Asian, 268 Native Hawaiian, and 7982 from two or more races.
