Niagara County is a county located in New York, in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 219846 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 214464, It is the 18th largest in terms of population. The county comprises an area of 1139.83 sq mi (2952.15 kmē), of which, 522.95 square miles (1354.43 kmē) of it is land and 616.89 square miles (1597.74 kmē) of it is water, it is the 19th largest by area in the U.S. state of New York. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in New York.

The population density was 420.4 people per square mile (162.32/kmē), making its New York's 15th most densely populated county. There were 95715 housing units at an average density of 183 per square mile (70.66/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.45 persons, and the average family size was 3.03 persons. The population's age distribution was 24.7% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.5 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 214464, The racial makeup of the county was 192977 White, 14169 Black or African American, 2422 American Indian, 1849 Asian, 66 Native Hawaiian, and 2981 from two or more races.
