Newton Town is a town located in the Sussex County, New Jersey, United States. As per the 2000 census, town has a population of 8244 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 8096, It is the 199th largest in terms of population. The town encompasses an area of 3.1 mi˛ (8.03 square kilometre ), of which, 3.1 square miles (8.03 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 184th largest by size in New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8244 people, 457 households, and 284 families living in the town.
