Newton City is a one of the Newton County, Mississippi, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 3699. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 3674, making it Mississippi's 80th largest. The city spans an area of 7.17 mi˛ (18.57 sq km), of which, 7.16 square miles (18.54 sq km) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 85th largest by total area in Mississippi.
