Newport Town is one of the town of New Castle County, Delaware, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The population of town in 2000 stood at 1122 as per the Census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the town is 1106, giving it the 44th largest population among Delaware. It covers total area of 0.45 mi˛ (1.17 sq km), of which, 0.44 square miles (1.14 sq km) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 20th smallest by total area among Delaware.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1122 residents, 456 households, and 290 families in the town. The population density was 2554 people per square mile (986.1/km˛), giving it the 14th most densely populated town among the Delaware. There were 490 housing units at an average density of 1113.6 per square mile (429.96/km˛). The average household size was 2.46 persons, and the average family size was 2.89 persons. In the town the population was spread out, with 26% under the age of 18, 11.5% from 18 to 24, 36.5% from 25 to 44, 17.5% from 45 to 64, and 8.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 98.6 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 103.9 females. The median age is 32.3 years, The median age of males and females living in Newport Town was 31.1 and 33.3 years respectively. The racial makeup of the town was 75.76% White, 10.61% Black or African American, 0.8% American Indian, 1.69% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 6.06% from two or more races and 5.08% Other races.
