Newport County, Rhode Island is a county located in the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Newport County is home to 85433 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 80478, It is the fourth largest in terms of population. The county spans an area of 313.64 miē (812.32 kmē), of which, 104.05 square miles (269.49 kmē) of it is land and 209.59 square miles (542.84 kmē) of it is water, making it Rhode Island's third largest county by total area. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Rhode Island.
