Newcastle City is a one of the McClain County, Oklahoma, located in Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 5434 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 7250, making it Oklahoma's 63rd largest. It covers total area of 52.94 square miles (137.11 square kilometre), of which, 49.76 square miles (128.88 square kilometre) of it is land and 3.18 square miles (8.24 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 11th largest by size in Oklahoma. It is ranks eighth in the size of its inland waterways in Oklahoma.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5434 people in the city, organized into 1977 households, and 1651 families residing in the city. The population density was 109.2 people per square mile (42.16/kmē), it is the 142nd least densely populated city in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. There were 2071 housing units at an average density of 41.6 per square mile (16.06/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.75 persons, and the average family size was 3.02 persons. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 26.4% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 28.4% from 45 to 64, and 8.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 103.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.7 males. The median age was 38.4 years, The median age of males and females living in Newcastle City was 37.8 and 38.9 years respectively. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 89.62% White, 0.18% Black or African American, 5.26% American Indian, 0.35% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, 3.44% from two or more races and 1.12% Other races.
