Newburyport City is one of the city of Essex County, Massachusetts, located towards the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. The population of the city was 17189 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 17542, giving it the 69th largest population among Massachusetts. Its area is just over 10.59 sq mi (27.43 kmē), of which, 8.38 square miles (21.7 kmē) of it is land and 2.2 square miles (5.7 kmē) of it is water, it is the 52nd largest by area in the U.S. state of Massachusetts.
