Newark City is a United States city located in the Alameda County, California, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 42471 inhabitants. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 41781, It is the 181st most populous in the U.S. state of California. It has total area of 14 mi˛ (36.26 sq km), of which, 13.97 square miles (36.18 sq km) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 sq km) of it is water, it is the 235th largest by area in the U.S. state of California.
