Newark City is a one of the Independence County, Arkansas, located in Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 1219 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 1227 in July 2008, giving it the 184th largest population among Arkansas. The city encompasses an area of 1.75 miē (4.53 kmē), making it Arkansas's 277th largest by total area.
