New York City is a one of the Bronx, Kings, New York, Queens and Richmond counties, New York, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. The population of the city was 8008278 as per the 2000 census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 8363710, making it New York's largest. The city comprises an area of 468.87 mi˛ (1214.37 sq km), of which, 303.31 square miles (785.57 sq km) of it is land and 165.56 square miles (428.8 sq km) of it is water, makes it the largest by total area in New York. It is ranks first in the size of its inland waterways in New York.
