New Sharon City is a city in the Mahaska County, Iowa, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 1301 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 1299, It is the 224th largest by population in the U.S. state of Iowa. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.94 square miles (2.43 kmē), it is the 421st largest in terms of geographical size.
