New London City, Connecticut


New London City is a one of the New London County, Connecticut, located in Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 25671 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 25891, It is the 27th largest in terms of population. It covers total area of 10.76 sq mi (27.87 kmē), of which, 5.54 square miles (14.35 kmē) of it is land and 5.23 square miles (13.55 kmē) of it is water, it is the 29th largest by area in the U.S. state of Connecticut. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in Connecticut.

As of the census of 2000, there were 25671 residents, 10181 households, and 5386 families in the city. The population density was 4635.5 people per square mile (1789.78/kmē), making it the eighth most densely populated city in Connecticut. There were 11560 housing units at an average density of 2086.6 per square mile (805.64/kmē). The average household size was 2.26 people, and the average family size was 3 people. In the city the population was spread out, with 22.8% under the age of 18, 17.6% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 17.9% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 104.7 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 106.6 females. The median age was 31.2 years, The median age of males was 30 years, for females the median age was 32.4 years. The racial makeup of the city was 16299 White, 4784 Black or African American, 225 American Indian, 544 Asian, 21 Native Hawaiian, 1455 from two or more races and 2343 Ohter races.
