New Kensington City is a city located in the Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, United States. New Kensington City had an official population of 14701 in 2000. The July 2008 population estimate is 13667, making it Pennsylvania's 61st largest. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.24 square miles (10.98 kmē), of which, 3.97 square miles (10.28 kmē) of it is land and 0.27 square miles (0.7 kmē) of it is water, it is the 137th largest by area in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania.

As of the census of 2000, there were 14701 people in the city, organized into 6519 households, and 3962 families residing in the city. The population density was 3703.9 people per square mile (1430.08/kmē), making its Pennsylvania's 276th most densely populated city. There were 7309 housing units at an average density of 1841.1 per square mile (710.85/kmē). The average household size was 2.24 people, and the average family size was 2.9 people. In the city the population was spread out, with 21.8% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 21.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 113.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 119.6 females. The median age was 41.8 years, the median age of male residents at 39.7 and the median age of female residents at 44. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 12915 White, 1447 Black or African American, 18 American Indian, 34 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 232 from two or more races and 54 Ohter races.
