New Jersey is a one of the state, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. As per the 2000 census, state has a population of 8414350 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 8682661, It is the ninth most populous in the U.S. state of America. The state comprises an area of 8721.3 sq mi (22588.06 square kilometre), of which, 7417.34 square miles (19210.82 square kilometre) of it is land and 1303.96 square miles (3377.24 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the fourth smallest by area in the U.S. state of America.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8414350 people in the state, organized into 3064645 households, and 2154539 families residing in the state. The population density was 1134.4 people per square mile (437.99/kmē), it is the most densely populated state in the U.S. state of America. There were 3310275 housing units at an average density of 446.3 per square mile (172.32/kmē). The average household size was 2.68 and the average family size was 3.21. In the state the population is diverse age-wise, with 24.8% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 31.2% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.9 males. The median age was 36.7 years, The median age of males and females living in New Jersey was 35.5 and 38 years respectively. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 8414350, The racial makeup of the state was 72.55% White, 13.57% Black or African American, 0.23% American Indian, 5.71% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, 2.54% from two or more races and 5.36% Other races.
