New Haven City, Connecticut is a city of the New Haven County, Connecticut, United States. The population of the city was 123626 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 123669, giving it the second largest population among Connecticut. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 20.25 sq mi (52.45 sq km), of which, 18.85 square miles (48.82 sq km) of it is land and 1.4 square miles (3.63 sq km) of it is water, it is the 16th largest by area in the U.S. state of Connecticut. It is ranks 13 in the size of its inland waterways in Connecticut.

As of the census of 2000, there were 123626 residents, 47094 households, and 25852 families in the city. The population density was 6558.4 people per square mile (2532.21/kmē), it is third most densely populated city in Connecticut.
