New Albany City is a city located in the Floyd County, Indiana, United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 37603 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 37296, It is the 20th largest by population in the U.S. state of Indiana. It covers total area of 14.79 square miles (38.31 square kilometre), of which, 14.63 square miles (37.89 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.17 square miles (0.44 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Indiana's 31st largest by total area.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 37603 residents, 15959 households, and 10059 families in the city. The population density was 2571.1 people per square mile (992.71/kmē), it is Indiana's 65th most densely populated city. The racial makeup of the city was 33844 White, 2607 Black or African American, 118 American Indian, 159 Asian, 14 Native Hawaiian, 609 from two or more races and 252 Ohter races.
