Nevada City is a city located in Story County, Iowa, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. Nevada City had an official population of 6658 in 2000. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 6688, It is the 54th largest by population in the U.S. state of Iowa. The city comprises an area of 4.19 miē (10.85 kmē), of which, 4.18 square miles (10.83 kmē) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 kmē) of it is water, it is the 91st largest by area in the U.S. state of Iowa.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6658 people, 2716 households, and 1786 families living in the city. The population density was 1594.7 people per square mile (615.72/kmē), it is 102nd most densely populated city in Iowa. There were 2882 housing units at an average density of 689.5 per square mile (266.22/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 persons, and the average family size was 2.92 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 24.9% under the age of 18, 9.8% from 18 to 24, 30.8% from 25 to 44, 20.3% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.5 males. The median age was 35.3 years, the median age of male residents at 33.6 and the median age of female residents at 36.9. The racial makeup of the city was 6456 White, 39 Black or African American, 9 American Indian, 44 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 74 from two or more races and 36 Ohter races.
