Neptune Beach City is a city located in Duval County, Florida, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. It is home to over 7270 people (2000 census). The July 2008 population estimate is 6781, It is the 332nd largest by population in the U.S. state of Florida. It is spread over 6.83 square miles (17.69 square kilometre), of which, 2.45 square miles (6.35 square kilometre ) of it is land and 4.39 square miles (11.37 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 267th largest by total area among Florida.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 7270 people, 3282 households, and 1857 families residing in the city. The population density was 2968.8 people per square mile (1146.26/kmē), making its Florida's 261st most densely populated city. There were 3472 housing units at an average density of 1417.1 per square mile (547.15/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.22 persons, and the average family size was 2.85 persons. In the city Age distribution was 19.3% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 33.3% from 25 to 44, 26.9% from 45 to 64, and 12.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 103.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.7 males. The median age is 39.4 years, the median age of male residents at 37.4 and the median age of female residents at 41.2. The racial makeup of the city was 96.08% White, 0.73% Black or African American, 0.4% American Indian, 1.03% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, 1.18% from two or more races and 0.52% Other races.
