Nemaha County is a United States county located in the United States of Nebraska. As of 2000 the population was 7576. In July 2008, its estimated population was 7085, making it the 42nd most populous county in Nebraska. It is spread over 411.89 sq mi (1066.79 sq km), of which, 409.3 square miles (1060.08 sq km ) of it is land and 2.58 square miles (6.68 sq km) of it is water, making it Nebraska's seventh smallest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7576 people, 3047 households, and 1981 families living in the county. The population density was 18.5 people per square mile (7.14/kmē), making it the 23rd most densely populated county in Nebraska. There were 3439 housing units at an average density of 8.4 per square mile (3.24/kmē). The average household size was 2.32 people, and the average family size was 2.91 people. Age range in the county was well distributed with 23.2% under the age of 18, 11.9% from 18 to 24, 23.9% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 18.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 7085, The racial makeup of the county was 6905 White, 44 Black or African American, 25 American Indian, 48 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 60 from two or more races.
