Natchitoches City is a one of the Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana, located in Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 17865 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 18241, It is the 22nd largest by population in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The city extends throughout a territory of 25.13 mi˛ (65.09 sq km ), of which, 21.56 square miles (55.84 sq km) of it is land and 3.57 square miles (9.25 sq km) of it is water, making it the 17th largest by size in Louisiana. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in Louisiana.

The population density was 828.5 people per square mile (319.89/km˛), it is the 173rd most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The median age of the city's population was 24.5 years, the median age of male residents at 23.6 and the median age of female residents at 25.9. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 7810 White, 9469 Black or African American, 122 American Indian, 146 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, 194 from two or more races and 121 Ohter races.
