Nassau County is a county in the United States of Florida. It is home to over 57663 people (2000 census). The July 2008 population estimate is 69835, It is Florida's 39th most populous county. Its area is just over 725.86 square miles (1879.97 sq km), of which, 651.55 square miles (1687.51 sq km) of it is land and 74.3 square miles (192.44 sq km) of it is water, it is the 42nd largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 57663 people, 21980 households, and 16532 families residing in the county. The population density was 88.5 people per square mile (34.17/kmē), it would be the 38th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Florida. There were 25917 housing units at an average density of 39.8 per square mile (15.37/kmē). The average household size was 2.59 people, and the average family size was 2.97 people. In the Nassau County, 25% of the population was under the age of 18, 7.2% were 18 to 24, 28.8% were 25 to 44, 26.3% were 45 to 64, and 12.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.8 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 69835, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 62396 White, 5804 Black or African American, 276 American Indian, 543 Asian, 23 Native Hawaiian, and 793 from two or more races.
