It has total area of 497.01 miē (1287.25 kmē), of which, 473.32 square miles (1225.89 kmē) of it is land and 23.69 square miles (61.36 kmē) of it is water, it is the largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks first in the size of its inland waterways in Tennessee.
