Nashua City is a one of the Chickasaw County, Iowa, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 1618 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 1517, It is the 186th largest by population in the U.S. state of Iowa. The city has a total area of 2.63 mi˛ (6.81 square kilometre), of which, 2.46 square miles (6.37 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.17 square miles (0.44 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 138th largest by size in Iowa.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 1618 people, 691 households, and 469 families living in the city. The population density was 658.2 people per square mile (254.13/km˛), it is the 551st most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Iowa. There were 739 housing units at an average density of 300.4 per square mile (115.99/km˛). The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 2.83. In the city the population was spread out, with 25.2% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 23.5% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 20.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.4 males. The median age was 40.3 years, the median age of male residents at 37.6 and the median age of female residents at 42.4. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 99.26% White, 0.06% Black or African American, 0.06% American Indian, 0.19% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, 0.37% from two or more races and 0.06% Other races.
