The population of the census designated place was 3671 as per the 2000 census data. It is the sixth smallest by population in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the census designated place has a total area of 3.94 sq mi (10.2 sq km), of which, 3.62 square miles (9.38 sq km) of it is land and 0.32 square miles (0.83 sq km) of it is water, it is the 19th largest by area in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. It is ranks 13 in the size of its inland waterways in Rhode Island.
