Muskogee County is a United States county located in the United States of Oklahoma. Muskogee County had an official population of 69451 in 2000. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 71278, It is the eighth most populous county in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. The county extends throughout a territory of 838.99 sq mi (2172.97 sq km ), of which, 813.85 square miles (2107.86 sq km) of it is land and 25.14 square miles (65.11 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 36th largest by total area in Oklahoma.

The population density was 85.3 people per square mile (32.93/kmē), it would be the tenth most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 25.9% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 15.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.9 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 71278, The racial makeup of the county was 46638 White, 8560 Black or African American, 11038 American Indian, 461 Asian, 34 Native Hawaiian, and 4547 from two or more races.
