Muskingum County, Ohio is a county located in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 84585 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 85087 in July 2008, giving it the 31st largest population among Ohio's county. It is spread over 672.59 mi˛ (1742 sq km), of which, 664.63 square miles (1721.38 sq km ) of it is land and 7.97 square miles (20.64 sq km) of it is water, makes it the seventh largest by total area in Ohio.

The population density was 127.3 people per square mile (49.15/km˛), it is the 40th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Ohio. In the county Age distribution was 25.9% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 108.7 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 113.1 females. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 85087, The racial makeup of the county was 79791 White, 3422 Black or African American, 208 American Indian, 291 Asian, 20 Native Hawaiian, and 1355 from two or more races.
