Murphy City is a city in the Collin County, Texas, United States. As of 2000 the population was 3099. Its population was estimated at 14779 in July 2008, making it Texas's 479th largest. It has total area of 5.25 square miles (13.6 sq km), it is the 404th largest in terms of geographical size.
