Muncie City is a city located in the Delaware County, Indiana, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 67430 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 64975, It is the eighth largest in terms of population. The city has a total area of 24.2 sq mi (62.68 kmē), of which, 24.18 square miles (62.63 kmē) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 kmē) of it is water, making it the 16th largest by size in Indiana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 67430 people in the city, organized into 27322 households, and 14597 families living in the city. The population density was 2788.2 people per square mile (1076.53/kmē), it is Indiana's 45th most densely populated city. There were 30205 housing units at an average density of 1249.2 per square mile (482.32/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.24 persons, and the average family size was 2.86 persons. The population's age distribution was 19.8% under the age of 18, 24.6% from 18 to 24, 24.2% from 25 to 44, 18.3% from 45 to 64, and 13.2% who were 65 or older. The racial makeup of the city was 57799 White, 7397 Black or African American, 183 American Indian, 534 Asian, 62 Native Hawaiian, 1004 from two or more races and 451 Ohter races.
