Multnomah County is one of the 36 county of Oregon, located towards the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. It is home to over 660486 people (2000 census). According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 714567, It is Oregon's most populous county. It covers total area of 465.65 square miles (1206.03 kmē), of which, 435.23 square miles (1127.24 kmē) of it is land and 30.42 square miles (78.79 kmē) of it is water, giving it the smallest by total area among Oregon's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 660486 people in the county, organized into 272098 households, and 152232 families living in the county. The population density was 1517.6 people per square mile (585.95/kmē), it would be the most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Oregon. There were 288561 housing units at an average density of 663 per square mile (255.99/kmē). The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 3.03. Age range in the county was well distributed with 22.3% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 33.8% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 11.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.1 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 714567, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 83.36% White, 6.03% Black or African American, 1.08% American Indian, 5.99% Asian, 0.47% Native Hawaiian, and 3.06% from two or more races.
