Mountain Lakes Borough is one of the borough of Morris County, New Jersey, located towards the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. It is home to over 4256 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population was 4274, It is the 312th largest by population in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It is spread over 2.89 square miles (7.49 kmē), of which, 2.67 square miles (6.92 kmē ) of it is land and 0.22 square miles (0.57 kmē) of it is water, making it the 201st largest by size in New Jersey.

The population's age distribution was 35.7% under the age of 18, 3.1% from 18 to 24, 23.4% from 25 to 44, 28.7% from 45 to 64, and 9.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94 males.
