Mount Olive Town is one of the town of Wayne and Duplin counties, North Carolina, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As per the 2000 census, town has a population of 4567 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the town is 4389, It is the 132nd most populous in the U.S. state of North Carolina. The town extends throughout a territory of 2.51 sq mi (6.5 kmē ), it is the 323rd largest in terms of geographical size.

The population density was 1819.3 people per square mile (702.44/kmē), it is 38th most densely populated town in North Carolina. In the town the population was distributed as follows: 22.9% under the age of 18, 14% from 18 to 24, 22.8% from 25 to 44, 21.1% from 45 to 64, and 19.2% who were 65 or older.
