Mount Carmel City is a city located in the Wabash County, Illinois, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 7982 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 7404, It is 239th most populous in Illinois. It is spread over 4.77 miē (12.35 kmē), of which, 4.62 square miles (11.97 kmē ) of it is land and 0.15 square miles (0.39 kmē) of it is water, it is the 229th largest by area in the U.S. state of Illinois.
