Morton County is a one of the county from North Dakota's 53 counties, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. It is home to over 25303 people (2000 census). In July 2008, its estimated population was 26255, It is the fifth most populous county in the U.S. state of North Dakota. The county comprises an area of 1945.28 mi˛ (5038.25 square kilometre), of which, 1926.27 square miles (4989.02 square kilometre) of it is land and 19.01 square miles (49.24 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the seventh largest by size in North Dakota.

As of the census of 2000, there were 25303 people in the county, organized into 9889 households, and 6931 families living in the county. The population density was 13.1 people per square mile (5.06/km˛), it is North Dakota's seventh most densely populated county. There were 10587 housing units at an average density of 5.5 per square mile (2.12/km˛). The average household size was 2.51 persons, and the average family size was 3.03 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 27% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.3 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 26255, The racial makeup of the county was 95.01% White, 0.33% Black or African American, 2.99% American Indian, 0.41% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 1.2% from two or more races.
