Morton County is a county located in the United States of Kansas. It is home to over 3496 people (2000 census). Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 2978, It is 21st least populous county in Kansas. Its area is just over 729.94 square miles (1890.54 sq km), of which, 729.92 square miles (1890.48 sq km) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 53rd largest by total area among Kansas's county.


As of the census of 2000, there were 3496 people, 1306 households, and 961 families living in the county. The population density was 4.8 people per square mile (1.85/kmē), making its Kansas's 24th least densely populated county. There were 1519 housing units at an average density of 2.1 per square mile (0.81/kmē). The average household size was 2.63 people, and the average family size was 3.15 people. Age range in the county was well distributed with 29.3% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.7 males.
