Morgantown City, Monongalia County, West Virginia is a city located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The population of the city was 26809 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 29642, making it the fifth most populous in West Virginia. It covers total area of 10.12 sq mi (26.21 square kilometre), of which, 9.8 square miles (25.38 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.32 square miles (0.83 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 17th largest by area in the U.S. state of West Virginia.
