Morgan County is one of the 95 county of Tennessee, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. Morgan County had an official population of 19757 in 2000. In July 2008, its estimated population was 20404, It is 64th most populous county in Tennessee. It is spread over 522.4 square miles (1353.01 sq km), of which, 522.04 square miles (1352.08 sq km ) of it is land and 0.35 square miles (0.91 sq km) of it is water, making it the 37th largest by size in Tennessee.

The population density was 37.8 people per square mile (14.59/kmē), making its Tennessee's 16th least densely populated county. There were 7714 housing units at an average density of 14.8 per square mile (5.71/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.58 persons, and the average family size was 3.01 persons. The population's age distribution was 23.2% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 31.9% from 25 to 44, 24.5% from 45 to 64, and 11.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 114.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 116.4 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 20404, The racial makeup of the county was 96.31% White, 2.72% Black or African American, 0.25% American Indian, 0.13% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.58% from two or more races.
