Morgan County is a United States county located in the United States of Colorado. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 27171 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 27804, making it Colorado's 19th largest county. The county has a total area of 1293.87 mi˛ (3351.11 sq km), of which, 1285.36 square miles (3329.07 sq km) of it is land and 8.51 square miles (22.04 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 34th largest by total area in Colorado.

As of the census of 2000, there were 27171 people, 9539 households, and 6969 families living in the county. The population density was 21.1 people per square mile (8.15/km˛), giving it the 20th most densely populated county among the Colorado. There were 10410 housing units at an average density of 8.1 per square mile (3.13/km˛). The average household size was 2.8 and the average family size was 3.29. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 30.4% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 13% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.3 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 27804, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 96.28% White, 1.04% Black or African American, 1.19% American Indian, 0.32% Asian, 0.21% Native Hawaiian, and 0.97% from two or more races.
